Arhanes
Archanes is a beautiful town in eastern Crete built at an altitude of 380 meters. It is 14 kilometers from the city and airport of Heraklion and only 7 kilometers from the Minoan palace of Knossos. The greater area of Arhanes is one of the important archaeological sites of Crete.

For those that prefer trekking and walks in nature, there’s a lot to choose from: walk up to the sacred mount Jiouktas, where according to ancient mythology, Zeus, the father of Gods and Humans has been buried. Walk along E4, the European trail to the Silamiano gorge under the thick shade of oaks and sycamores.
